The Hardest Thing About Healing is Changing Your Mind

Updated: Jan 21, 2019

In western society, our attitude about healing is mostly one of being fixed by somebody or something else; this isn't healing, it's called curing, and it doesn't work to get rid of the whole problem. It might give you immediate relief of a symptom, but you will not be fully healed. In fact, you will likely be left with a whole host of new problems from the side effects of some toxic 'treatment'.

Unless of course, it's a broken bone, that can actually be fixed (duh!).

As a Shaman, I am considered a healer. But does that mean that I heal people? No way Hosé! I do however hold space and create a great big loving container for your healing to happen. I do my best to help you feel seen, heard, and understood in a way you have never before experienced. This container is the catalyst for healing to happen.

Problems cannot be solved with the same mind set that created them ~Albert Einstein

It's YOU who does the healing.

Not me.

Not your doctor.

YOU.

What I mean by this is that without awareness of personal accountability for your health and wellbeing you'll probably never truly heal.

So what is healing anyway?

Definition:

HEALING; the process of making or becoming sound or healthy again

Healing is when you are no longer afraid of the direction that your life, your dis-eases, or issues are going in because you understand that you ARE the life, the dis-eases, and the issues.

Deep stuff, eh?

As the definition states, 'becoming sound' means that the whole system you are a part of begins to get well or 'healthy'.

I realize that this doesn't sound as desirable as getting fixed and moving on with your life. However, as I stated at the beginning of this post ignoring the whole picture has consequences. You might not realize it, but your body and your life are part of a complex interconnected web, so the individual parts affect the whole.

Always. It's a universal law.

You don't need to fully understand how this works (I seem to say that a lot) to work with the concept. To heal you're going to have to change your mind. You cannot fix the problem with the same mindset that created it

To heal, you're going to need to be willing to grow, to question and to accept that change is a natural part of life. In truth, change is the only constant.

I understand that change is scary. The thought of not knowing what's around the next corner or calling our well-established life into question can be anxiety-inducing. This fear is the same as our fear of death.

Our fear of death is THE thing that keeps most of us from living fully. I will create a whole other post on this and link it here once it's written.

Only when you become curious about life, and all of it's interwoven connections, begin to self-reflect, and embrace change by practicing letting go of needing to have all of the answers will you truly begin to heal.

Let me know how it goes.

All my love,

Dawn
